CranioSacral Therapy

CranioSacral Therapy (CST) was pioneered and developed by osteopathic physician John E. Upledger following extensive scientific studies from 1975 to 1983 at Michigan State University, where he served as a clinical researcher and Professor of Biomechanics.

CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiological body system called the craniosacral system - comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. Using a soft touch generally no greater than 5 grams, or about the weight of a nickel, practitioners release restrictions in the craniosacral system as well as the fascia, which has been shown to improve the functioning of the central nervous system, and many other systems of the body, such as digestive, musculoskeletal, respiratory, circulatory, and more. CST has also been shown to help with the physical components related to such somatic conditions as Post Traumatic Stress, depression and anxiety. By facilitating the body's natural and innate healing processes, CST is increasingly used as a preventive health measure for its ability to bolster resistance to disease, and has been shown to be beneficial for people seeking help with a wide range of healthcare challenges and symptoms including:

  • Chronic Pain including Migraines and  Headaches

  • Motor-Coordination Impairments

  • Central Nervous System Disorders

  • Orthopedic Problems

  • Traumatic Brain Injuries and Concussions

  • Alzheimer's

  • Spinal Cord Injuries

  • Scoliosis

  • Conception, Pregnancy, Birth

  • Pediatric Challenges including Autism and Learning Differences

  • Fibromyalgia and other Connective-Tissue Disorders

  • Temporomandibular Joint Syndrome (TMJ) and Dental Challenges

  • Post-Surgical Dysfunction, etc.

Zero Balancing

Developed by Fritz Smith, MD in the early 1970s, Zero Balancing is a powerful body-mind therapy that teaches skilled touch to bring balance to body structure and energy. A session typically lasts 30 to 45 minutes and is offered through clothing. The practitioner uses finger pressure and gentle traction on areas of tension in the bones, joints and soft tissue to create fulcrums, or points of balance, around which the body can relax and reorganize.

By addressing the deepest and densest tissues of the body along with soft tissue and energy fields, Zero Balancing helps to clear chronic tension and blocks in the body’s energy flow. ZB has been shown to reduce stress, amplify vitality and promote better postural alignment.

Zero Balancing can help relieve body aches and pain, release restrictions in movement, and provide lasting relief from emotional distress to improve overall quality of life. Zero Balancing can also be helpful with specific goals such as relief from back pain, improving concentration or sleep, releasing unwanted stress, eliminating old behavior patterns, or boosting well-being. Zero Balancing works in conjunction with medical therapy and is not a substitute for it.

Brain Therapy

The Brain Therapy techniques developed by Dr. Bruno Chikly, founder of the Chikly Health Institute (CHI), works on all aspects of the nervous system and its associated structures. These gentle, non-invasive, yet powerful treatments have opened new possibilities  and restored hope for numerous clients. Dr. Chikly’s Brain Therapy is an advanced technique that uses an original paradigm.  It moves beyond concentrating on the movement of the cranial bones and membranes and works extensively with the brain tissue, grey and white matter, and specific cranial and spinal structures.

Your central nervous system controls most functions in the body and produces numerous chemicals that interact with whole body consciousness.  The brain is an “intelligent” tissue that responds to subtle information communicated through specialized trained touch. The brain also has an enormous capacity for plasticity. “Plasticity” is a term used by neuroscientists, referring to the brain’s ability to change at any age.  A few areas of the brain even produce new brain cells every day (neurogenesis).

Dr. Chikly has designed and developed extremely gentle, highly refined and efficient techniques to treat nervous system pathologies.  Brain Therapy practitioners can help many patients of all ages and specifically those with brain and spinal cord pathologies including:

  • Back or Spine related pain

  • Closed Head Injury/Traumatic Brain Injury

  • Cognitive/Behavioral dysfunction

  • Dementia

  • Headaches

  • Postural problems

  • Post-meningitis and post-polio syndromes

  • PTSD

  • Stroke

  • ADD/ADHD

  • Auditory visual, or vestibular processing

  • Birth Difficulties or Trauma

  • Cerebral Palsy

  • Learning disabilities

  • Dyscalculia, dysgraphia, dyslexia,and dyspraxia

  • Poor postural control

  • Problems with focus and concentration

  • Sensory Integration dysfunction

  • Speech development disorders

  • Social skills issues, etc.
